Abdullah Al Sifat

My currency collection is not just a group of coins and banknotes—it is a journey through time. From an early age, I was fascinated by old money, unusual coin designs, and foreign banknotes. What began as simple curiosity has grown into a deep interest in history, as each piece carries a story from the past.

My journey started in Class 6, quite unexpectedly, while playing on my school field when I found a Singapore 20 cent coin. That small discovery sparked a lasting interest. Gradually, I started collecting local coins such as Bangladeshi 1 Taka golden coins, 50 poisa, 25 poisa, and 5 poisa. Over time, the interest continued, but in 2022 I became fully committed to numismatics.

A teacher guided me and helped me understand authenticity and historical value. He also taught me the importance of having a clear focus. My focus is on one-denomination collections, along with currencies from the British India period and related historical eras.

What fascinates me most are the designs, signatures, and symbols found on each piece. They reflect culture, authority, and craftsmanship. For me, collecting currency is more than a hobby—it is a way of preserving history.
