I, A H M Faizur Rahman, also known as ‘Paul’ in the closer circles, am a philatelic enthusiast having strong passion in Bangladesh Philately. I collect postage stamps and postal stationery of Bangladesh and love to prepare exhibits on them. I would like to present my identity as a collector in three major dimensions, i.e., collector; exhibitor; and organizer.
Collector: As said earlier, I collect postage stamps and postal stationery of Bangladesh. I also collect stamps and stationery of British India (up to 1947) and Pakistan (1947 to 1974) as extended part of my philatelic interest. Besides, I love reading philatelic literature in my favourite area.
Exhibitor: I enjoy making exhibits with my Bangladesh philatelic materials and taking part in international events on behalf of Bangladesh. Traditional and Postal Stationery are my favourite classes, but I prepare One-frame exhibits as well.
I started participating in competitive exhibitions in the year 2018. Since then, I have participated in more-or-less 25 exhibitions and shows at home and abroad, out of which two are international exhibitions under FIP patronage. My FIP ID number is 8444. My highest achievement at an FIP exhibition is Vermeil medal. At national level, my highest medal is Large Vermeil and at club level, I got a Gold medal. Outside Bangladesh, I have participated exhibitions in Switzerland, Thailand, UAE, China and Indonesia.
Organizer: I am an active member of Bangladesh National Philatelic Association (BNPA) and currently serving as Joint Secretary of the Association. I also represent BNPA in Bangladesh Philatelic Federation (the highest philatelic body of the country) as an EC member. Besides, I am an active member of Old Dhaka Collectors Society (ODCS) and serving the club as Exhibition and Cultural Secretary.
I am life member of the following philatelic/hobby clubs:
1. Bangladesh National Philatelic Association (BNPA)
2. Bangladesh Numismatic Collectors Society (BNCS)
3. Dhaka Philatelic Club (DPC)
4. Varendra Philatelic Society (VPS)
Philately – the childhood affection has become an inseparable part of my life. I enjoy collecting, studying, displaying, talks, and writings on Bangladesh Philately. I am a banker by profession and philately helps me a lot by releasing the stress of my daily life.
