With a collection of over 25,000 matchboxes from around the world, Shakil has established himself as one of the prominent matchbox collectors in South Asia. Beyond collecting, he has designed more than 500 custom matchboxes for organizations and clients both in Bangladesh and abroad, blending art, history, and branding into a unique collectible medium.
Shakil is also a professional artist, graphic designer, photographer, and poet, with five published books covering travel stories, photography, poetry, and the history of matchboxes. His creative work bridges visual art and literature, reflecting his belief that design and collecting are both acts of preserving stories.
Through his work and collections, Shakil continues to explore how small objects—like matchboxes—can carry memories, identity, and global connections, making him not just a collector, but a storyteller of material culture.
