Born on 2nd November 1959. He entered writing in his student days, driven by a passion for reading. During his higher secondary studies, he sought guidance from mystery writer Kazi Anwar Hossain, who advised him to complete his studies before pursuing writing. His first science fiction compilation,‘ওরা এসেছিল’ Ora Eshechhilo (They Had Come), was published in 1992 by Seba Prokashoni. Since then, he has worked on nearly half a hundred science fiction books, yet he remained largely behind the scenes - a space he prefers. In 2015 (Bengali year 1422), he received the Agrani Bank-Shishu Academy Children’s Literature Award.
He owns a personal library containing around ten thousand local and foreign books. He was the founding executive editor of Moulik (মৌলিক), Bangladesh’s first science fiction magazine. Apart from science fiction, he has also worked on thrillers, myths, and content for children and teenagers.
In complete contrast, he has been - and will remain - associated with the satirical magazine Unmad. Beyond producing the country’s first street show magazine program and the first fully action-based drama, he is currently busy making documentaries. He has another identity - he is himself a collage cover artist.
He started collecting stamps from a childhood hobby. His collection focuses on Bangladesh. In 2019, along with several like-minded stamp collectors, he helped form the Philatelic Society of Bangladesh (PSB) and served as its founding General Secretary. He has participated in national and international stamp exhibitions and received awards.
Besides stamp collecting, he also collects New Age music CDs and has around 1,500 original CDs in his collection.
Recently, he has immersed himself in a unique collection — die-cast model cars (police cars and taxi cabs). His collection includes 450 die-cast models.
He is married to Sanjida Abedin and has a daughter, Sarah Khurshid, and a son, Faiyad Hasan.
